Rolex and Hales Jewelers History
Our Rolex history
Rolex History at Hale's Jewelers For over a century, Hale's Jewelers has been part of significant moments in people's lives with gifts made to last a lifetime. Through the years, we've collected beautiful stories of love and celebration from generations of families who chose Hale's as their family jeweler. We look back at our rich history with pride for the special occasions and milestones we’ve been a part of and by partnering with Rolex, we look forward to making even more memories with our customers.
The Perfect Partnership
In 1856 James Hunter Randolph founded a jewelry store in Greenville that specialized in engraving and watches. His grandson William Randolph Hale took over the business in 1887, renaming it Hale's Jewelers. A passion for watches was passed down to the next generation and William Hale, Jr. used his love of timepieces to engage with the community by installing the Hale's Clock. This historic landmark served as the standard time for Greenville residents and still stands today outside our current location on Verdae Boulevard.
Decades of Fine Swiss Timepieces
For over seven decades, Hale's Jewelers has witnessed and initiated the demand for fine watches. We've dominated the market as an early importer of fine Swiss timepieces and incorporated Rolex into the family business to accommodate the continued desire for these luxurious watches.
Our Values
Since our beginning in 1856, Hale's has made it our mission to provide trust and commitment to our clientele and community. Education, professionalism, integrity and trust are core values that guide us each and every day. These principles remain an integral part of our business as we move into the future and look forward to serving the next generation of Greenville families.
Giving Back
Community is at the heart of everything we do at Hale's. Greenville has been our home for over 167 years, and we are continually humbled by the opportunities to serve our friends and neighbors. As an extension of our gratitude, we invest our time and resources into improving lives in our hometown. By supporting the local charities and philanthropic opportunities around us, we feel most connected to our home… the Upstate of South Carolina.
